We are a couple spending the summer at our family farm, located in the beautiful mountain village Røldal. The neighbouring irish welsh stud farm buys the hay that we produce every summer. So the work here mainly consists of cutting grass, drying it, assembling it and finally transporting it into the barn. As it often rains here in the west of Norway, we set up traditional grass-drying-lines; which is a lot of work...
Even though there is plenty of work in the weeks of July, we also take time off for social activities, such as swimming in glacier-water, hiking in the mountain areas nearby or fishing trouts. Røldal has 530 inhabitants, a wonderful stave church with weekly organ concerts, a pub, and the World's Smallest Literaturehouse. It the winter, Røldal is a popular destination for winter sports, and in the summer the visitors enjoy hiking in the spectacular nature.
We, Susanne and Sondof, are architects by profession, and live mostly in Bergen. In the summer time we often have family and friends visiting us here in Røldal, and we really enjoy the social aspect of working with hay making. On the evenings we gather around the dinner table, and we are always interested in meeting new people. Hitchhikers, relatives, neighbours and new friends are welcome here, but we also value a good night's sleep after long working days.
We live in a spacious house with 3 guest rooms, and we will all share a kitchen, living room and a common bathroom with separate wc.
